What the website checker looks at
- Domain age and history — a "since 2009" shop on a domain registered three weeks ago is lying.
- Reviews outside the site itself — Trustpilot, forums, Reddit — and whether they look real.
- Scam, phishing and malware reports from public blocklists and consumer-protection sources.
- Company traces — a verifiable address, registration number and contact details, or nothing at all.
- Payment methods — buyer-protected options (card, PayPal, iDEAL via a real PSP) versus bank transfer or crypto only.
- Look-alike check — is it imitating a known brand's name, logo or domain?
Website checker vs. link or URL scanner
A URL or link scanner (VirusTotal, URLVoid and similar) asks one question: does this page carry malware or phishing code? Most fake shops pass that test — they are technically clean sites that simply never ship. HasTrust asks the question you actually have: can I trust this website with my money? Is the website checker free?

Does it scan the website for viruses or malware?
Not primarily. HasTrust includes public malware and phishing blocklists as one signal, but its job is trustworthiness: who is behind the site, what real customers say, and whether you can get your money back. Use a dedicated URL scanner alongside it if you suspect malware.
Can I check a website that isn't a shop?
Yes. Paste any website — a service, a broker, a marketplace seller, a "job offer" page. Product and price checks only apply to shops; the trust checks apply to everything.
