Startplatzbörse.com is a legitimate, community-driven project designed to help athletes buy and sell sports event start spots directly with one another. It is a free, non-commercial platform that provides the technical infrastructure for these private transactions but does not act as an intermediary or escrow service. Users are responsible for verifying the transfer rules with event organizers and managing payments themselves. It is important to note that this site is entirely unrelated to the 'STARTPLATZ' startup incubator in Cologne and Düsseldorf. As long as you follow the site's safety advice—such as using secure payment methods like PayPal Goods & Services—it is a safe and useful tool for its intended purpose.
