The division took part in Operation Konrad, a series of desperate counterattacks aimed at relieving the encircled German and Hungarian forces in Budapest. The Sd.Kfz. 234/3 played a crucial role in these operations, using its firepower to support German infantry and lighter vehicles in both rural and urban engagements.
