Biggin Hill was one of the RAF's most famous fighter stations, having played a crucial role during the Battle of Britain and continuing its importance into the jet age. During the early Cold War, RAF fighter squadrons stationed at Biggin Hill maintained a high state of readiness to defend British airspace against potential threats.
